Sunset Cascades, Kakadu National Park NT
This cascading waterway image was captured on a multi-day hike high up in to the “Stone Country” of Kakadu National Park. This shot is the very final glow of the sunset colour, casting its pink glow on the water, rocks and atmosphere in the landscape.
An idyllic private creek, my tent is just behind where I took this image, perched on a rocky ledge away from the water’s edge in anticipation of overnight rain causing the creek level to rise!
The landscape up on the escarpment is dramatic, unique and home to endemic species sheltering in the many overhngs, caves and crevices. Thousands of year-old Aboriginal Rock Art can be found at almost every rocky turn.
I am in awe of this true wildnerness everytime I make the trip to this area, it’s hard to explain, but the feeling of this ancient landscape is a real kind of magic!
