Mangrove Serenity, East Point

from A$175.00

This image is a combination of the elements, that all came together one morning!

First, the light is just what I love! Soft colours in the sky, and plenty of warm glow on both the water and rocks. Early sunrise light provides the illumination to floating clouds. A pastel-pretty backdrop to one of East Point’s unique mangroves.

Second, is Darwin’s huge tidal swing. This shot can only occur at a high tide - the mangrove is high and dry in the sand at anything less than a 6m tide. I prefer an outgoing tide usually, as the water receding reveals perfect untouched sand and patterns that cannot be photographed when full of footprints!

Mangroves are one of my favourite subjects. The juxtaposition of a tree being able to grow in saltwater just fascinates me! I love the simplicity of the subject, a tree on a clean background of water, sky and open horizon. The shot becomes all about light, colour and texture - which this image is a great example of.
